하사안 (河砂岸 /HA SA-AN) 1982~

Ha Sa-an is an installation artist who works primarily with minerals, combining sand, pigments, vibration, and sound to construct a sensory sculptural language through hand-drawing and performative gestures.
In recent years, her practice has expanded into vibration-based kinetic art, focusing on the physical reactivity and psychological resonance of minerals processed through firing, exploring how nature and human emotion can be intertwined through movement and energy.

From 2009 to 2022, she worked as a curator and art director, leading a wide range of projects both within and beyond the art ecosystem.
In 2014, she organized KAUGGE, the first-ever joint graduation exhibition for university and graduate art students in Korea. In 2018, she developed and patented an AI-driven system for the quantitative evaluation of artworks, applying collective intelligence to the field of art valuation.

She also collaborated with universities and industries to develop coding-based educational materials for art education, bridging technology and creativity.
Since 2017, Ha Sa-an has been exploring the sculptural and sensory possibilities of fired minerals, experimenting with the intersection between material and perception, object and artistic action.

In 2025, she participated in the exhibition “Breathing Machine” (Dongbin Cultural Warehouse 1969, organized by the Pohang Cultural Foundation), presenting her kinetic installation 〈WAYPOINT〉, inspired by Alocasia macrorrhizos, also known as the “traveler’s plant.”
The work features multiple Alocasia forms moving in different directions, evoking a rhythmic choreography that visualizes human anxiety through mechanical sound. Through this piece, the artist explores the intersection of nature, machinery, emotion, and vibration—offering an emotional waypoint and a moment of introspection amid the journey of life.
